Whether it’s with family, a significant other, friends or coworkers, we all deal with relationships on some level every day. And one thing that’s inevitable in most relationships is conflict. Whether it’s a dish-smashing, all out screaming match with your spouse or a passive-aggressive standoff with a coworker, we all fight. God wants us to fight, but He wants us to fight right.

This Sunday at Family Church we’re going to dive into our relationship battlegrounds and learn how to fight right and to fight the right enemy.

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). The things we say and the way we say them can either stir up a conflict or resolve it. We need to have the right words and the right heart. The Bible says our words come from what’s in our hearts and that’s where everything starts.  If our hearts are angry and bitter toward other people, our words will be as well. But if we have love in our hearts, we won’t be so quick to fight with our words.

We also need to recognize how to fight against the right things. Our relationships shouldn’t become the battleground – our relationships should help us fight in the real battleground! The real battle is in the spiritual realm. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). Fortunately, Jesus is on the battleground too. He’s fighting for us and (spoiler alert) Jesus wins!

Join us this weekend as God shows us how He can breathe life into even the most tumultuous relationships.
